How to unlock the potential of blockchain technology for a new decentralised world by Dr Julian Hosp, Founder of TenX & Best selling Author

The World Economic Forum predicts that 10% of the global GDP will be stored on the blockchain in less than 10 years. In terms of today’s global GDP that would be $7.8 trillion. Blockchain technology is already marching confidently across the industries.  People start realizing that it is not just a toy for a bunch of hackers, but an efficient tool which has the potential to be deployed by financial institutions, businesses, governments and individuals. Blockchain technology is often compared with Internet - and the impact of it is expected to be much greater. Just like in the case of the World Wide Web, those who use this technology are going to have a significant competitive advantage to those who don’t. However even countries that are leaders in the global IT & financial industry, have been struggling so far trying to find a way to put blockchain applications inside existing regulatory framework. Dr. Julian Hosp will talk about the potential of blockchain technology to establish a new decentralised economy, as well as solving regulatory issues to accelerate that process.

Democratizing Commercialization via Cross-Institute Collaboration moderated by Dr. Mohd Nor Azman Hassan, Deputy Director General of Higher Education (Private Sector), Ministry of Higher Education

Technology commercialization is a well-studied discipline and is often viewed to operate within a relatively confined channel: invention to development to market launch to adoption to dissemination.  There are countless examples where this channel has led to impressive results and there are many valuable tools that can be deployed to accelerate progress within this model.  However, in this talk, the panelist will focus on commercialization models that work in the opposite direction; beginning with a focus on dissemination and adoption as the early step, rather than invention.  This approach has the potential to create transformative technologies and industries that broadly influence economic development and social advancement.
